Another Bundesliga round, another masterfull Lewandowski performance

An afternoon filled with massive scoring landmarks for the Bavarian giants. Bayern Munich broke their own Bundesliga record – they scored in their 66th game in a row and their star striker Robert Lewandowski recorded his 300th goal in German top-tier. Oh yes – let’s not forget the fact the league leaders defeated Cologne 4-0 at Rhein Energie Stadion.𝓣𝓗𝓘𝓢 𝓘𝓢 𝓛𝓔𝓦𝓐𝓝𝓓𝓞𝓦𝓢𝓚𝓘3️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ goals in the Bundesliga for @lewy_official 🔥#MiaSanMia pic.twitter.com/Qj8WmXJw0N— FC Bayern English (@FCBayernEN) January 15, 2022 It was red hot from the very start. As the Goats might have expected, it didn’t take long for the table-toppers to get the ball rolling – Thomas Müller found Lewandowski unmarked in the box, and with an abundance of time and space, the prolific scorer slotted Bayern ahead inside the ninth minute.Fifteen minutes later, forgotten man Corentin Tolisso made sure he will use the given time on the pitch properly. He doubled the lead for the Bavarians with potentially the goal-of-the-season. Marcel Sabitzer sent an accurate long-ball to the Frenchman who played a flashy one-two with Müller. Bouncing up invitingly on the edge of the box, Tolisso sent a rocket into the top corner to leave the fans stunned in awe.Since the visitors played quite openly, it left room for Cologne to try and seek their own chances and it looked as though they had pulled one back when Mark Uth through found the back of the net of Manuel Neuer. However, even though his finish was smart, VAR eventually noticed Uth was offside when the ball was sent to him and the goal was annulled.Uth again came close to reigniting the contest after the halftime break but his header flashed wide of the post. And as it usually happens against great squads such as Bayern the visitors were immediately punished for the near-miss in devastating fashion. Leroy Sané found Lewandowski fresh off the bench and the Pole made his finish look frighteningly simple.Cologne again tried responding via Timo Hübers who rattled the crossbar. Frustrated at their inability to find the net, the hosts acted as spectators as Sané and Lewandowski linked up again. Lewa’s hat-trick was the icing on the cake for a jolly Bayern afternoon.Cologne probably did not hope much ahead of the game and it was always going to be a tough assignment for the Goats. They have not won a competitive tie against Bayern since 2011.Julian Nagelsmann’s side have won nine matches in a row against the home team and most importantly they have solidified their advantage at the top of the standings.150 – Since Thomas Müller’s Bundesliga debut (15 Aug 2008), only Lionel #Messi (180 assists) has assisted more goals in Europe’s big five leagues than the German (150 assists).
