Ezekiel Akwana resigns from doomed Mathare United

Ezekiel Akwana has stepped down from the position of head coach at Mathare United, Mozzart Sport can authoritatively report.Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Akwana confirmed the development, affirming that it had been occasioned by the financial strain at the club that has seen the team post bad results this season.Akwana added that the decision was also to save his image as the bad performance is a result of the team’s inconsistency in training and lack of motivation to the players emanating from the financial struggle as players have not been paid for months.”It is true I have left my position as the head coach. It has been tough considering the financial situation at the club. The players have not been training consistently. Some days I would have seven or so players, then the next time we train I have another seven or so totally different. As a result, it has been very hard to produce good results with the players also going without pay for months. The players have been asking about the finances and Mr. Munro has been telling them that he is still working on securing a sponsor. We have struggled a lot even to honor matches. That is why I decided to call it quits and save my name as we were performing badly because of something I was not in control over. When the players did not show up for training at times, I understood them as a human. I will take a breather and will return when a team comes calling,” Akwana told Mozzart SportMathare United head coach Ezekiel Akwana has resigned.
