Off colour Tusker held to barren draw by Bullets

Reigning champions Tusker FC’s stuttering season continued after settling for a barren draw against basement boys Vihiga Bullets in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) clash staged at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Monday afternoon.Tusker have been patchy in their form recently with two losses in their last five games, a string of results that have left them languishing in the bottom half of the log. Bullets on the other hand were anchored to the foot of the table with only one win to their name all season and were slowly losing touch with fellow relegation candidates. FULL TIME in Kakamega. It ends in a frustrating draw and one point on the road. pic.twitter.com/tlkHWjPG3m— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) January 24, 2022 Tusker had a fast start to the game and went close in the seventh minute when Daniel Sakari floated in a cross that was nodded high off the mark. Bullets settled into the game and mustered their first attempt in the 12th minute when Ugandan import Jesse Kajuba tested the palms of Patrick Matasi who was up to the task with a save. Chances were at a premium for both teams in the first half with Rodgers Ouma, Jimmy Mbugua and Eric Zakayo spurning their efforts while Michael Isabwa’s header drew a smart save from Matasi as both teams went into the halftime break level. After limited action in the opening stages of the second half, Robert Matano rang the changes in the 60th minute bringing on Humphrey Mieno, Stewart Omondi and Ibrahim Joshua for Rodgers Ouma, Diogracious Ojok and John Njuguna. This is the team that goes out this afternoon against Vihiga Bullets.💛| Two changes on the team with Ojok starting ahead of Ibra while Momanyi comes in for Asike who is out injured.💛| Jackson Macharia returns and has a place in the bench. pic.twitter.com/PrpIpSLbUA— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) January 24, 2022 The changes almost paid dividends soon with Eric Zakayo feeding Ibrahim Joshua whose effort found the side netting much to the relive of the Bullets backline. The Brewers best chance of the game came four minutes from time when Lawrence Luvanda’s first shot cannoned off the woodwork with Vihiga clearing their lines soon after. Robert Matano’s charges could not conjure another chance as they picked up a point against Bullets who are now level on points with Mathare United.
