Another row between Rangnick and the player: Jesse denies he asked for extra time

What a mess in this club. Sub par performances, coaching changes, bad atmosphere in the dressing room, player accused of rape and ’threats to kill’, and footballers denying their coach. What else can go wrong in Manchester? The latest development in United’s camp is between interim manager Ralf Rangnick (again) and (another) unhappy player – Jesse Lingard. After the January transfer window, in which Manchester tried to offload their player, but in really didn’t want to do that, Lingard has stayed in a club and how his chances of getting a World Cup call are all but gone. The club advised me to have time off due to personal reasons! But my headspace is clear and I’ll always be professional when called upon and give 100 percent— Jesse Lingard (@JesseLingard) February 3, 2022 The club tried to sell Lingard, as they didn’t want to lose him to free agency in June, but they didn’t want to sell him to West Ham, since they see the Hammers as their rivals for the fourth place and the Premier League. They wanted to sell him to Newcastle, but the player didn’t want to make a long term commitment with a club who might be relegated. The loan was a more realistic option, but then Manchester decided to try and take the potential money from his sale through the loan agreement, so they asked the Magpies to pay 2.3 billion Ksh just for four months of his loan. Newcastle didn’t want to pay for such a ransom, and Lingard urged the club to let him go, but nothing happened. (1.35) MANCHESTER UNITED (4.90) MIDDLESBROUGH (9.50)And now, he won’t feature in the FA Cup game against Middlesbrough, but the reasons are unknown. Because, just like with Antonio Martial, the managers says one thing, and the player denies it. „Three weeks ago, Jesse didn’t want to leave. Then he changed his mind. I had a chat with him 10 days ago and I could fully understand why he wanted to leave, to get game-time for his future and the World Cup. And I said to him at the time if he finds a club he would like to play for and the club find a solution with our club I would let him go and allow him to leave. Obviously, with all the developments in the last couple of days, things changed a little bit. On the other hand, we also had no agreement with any other club and we had to take a final decision with the board, and we decided to rather keep Jesse until the end of the season. Jesse asked me and the club if we could give him a couple of days off just to clear his mind. He will be back in training, I suppose, on Monday and then be a regular part of the whole squad“  said United’s interim manager.Premier League – January transfer window recapBut just hours after his comments, Jesse replied on his Twitter account. „The club advised me to have time off due to personal reasons! But my headspace is clear and I’ll always be professional when called upon and give 100 per cent“ said the England international, clearly denying his managers comments. The circus continues.
