Bayern’s coach and players ‘annoyed’ with Sule’s free transfer to Dortmund

Torsten Frings, Mats Hummels, Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski on one side, and Mats Hummels, Mario Gotze, Sebastian Rode and Niklas Sule on the other side. Those are the players who went from Borussia Dortmund to Bayern Munich in recent years. Off course, two names stand out: Mats Hummels and Mario Gotze. Those players moved from Borussia to Bayern and back, while Rode, Frings and Lewandowski stayed in Bayern. And even with Hummels and Gotze, the Bavarians got the better deals: the players moved to Munich when they were in their prime, and came back to Dortmund when they were declining. In fact, Gotze was so bad, that Borussia released him and he signed for PSV, while Hummels is part of the terrible Dortmund defense which allowed 36 goals already, and many of those goals came after Hummels’ blunders. The road not taken too often for Niklas Sule, as Bayern defender moves to their archrival BVBThose facts are one more reason while Niklas Sule’s free transfer from Bayern to Borussia, which will come effective on June 1st 2022 is more shocking. This time, Dortmund has really shaken their arch rivals, taking their first-team regular in his prime, for free. It’s no reason that this transfer provoked so much reaction and comments from both clubs, TV pundits, football experts and everybody else.🚨 Niklas Sule transfer details📝- 5 year contract till 2027💵- He will around €10m/year + add ons🟡- He had received offers from Serie A and Premier league but he chose Borussia Dortmund#BVB pic.twitter.com/oAZKp9HY4x— BVB Express (@BVBExpress) February 7, 2022 For starters, the German media pointed out that coach Julian Nagelsmann was furious when he found out that Sule was leaving, especially to Borussia, and Bayern players were more than surprised too, as they saw Niklas already in the Premier League. “I understand some of the reasons but I don’t know them all. He has a contract situation that allows him to make a change. One can understand that. He’s an important player. For us, we have to find a replacement. It’s a challenge. Neuer said the team is annoyed because he will leave. I think that’s a compliment to him. The team is annoyed. We have to replace him” said Nagelsmann. And the coach was right, as Manuel Neuer confirmed.“It bugs us all that Niklas is leaving. It’s a pity, of course, that such a cornerstone in the defence breaks away. It annoys us all. We will miss him” said Munich’s keeper. Bundesliga – January transfer window recap: Bayern + Borussia + Leipzig: 0 Ksh spentWhat’s even worse for the Bavarians, he choose the arch rival even thou he was offered more money elsewhere, as confirmed by his manager. And one has only to look at his statement to understand that the Bavarians management failed in their talks with the player. “From the first contact with Dortmund I felt right away that those responsible at the club were very interested in working with me. Dortmund told me what role I could have and I had the feeling I was wanted both as a player and as a person” said Sule. The price is also in question. Apparently, the Bavarians didn’t want to give him more than 1.3 billion Ksh per year in wages, while he asked for 2 billion. In the end, it seems that he was so annoyed that he accepted Borussia’s offer for 1.3 billion, the same amount he was offered in Munich. (4.10) UNION BERLIN (3.70) BORUSSIA DORTMUND (1.95)Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer tried to play it cool but also took a swipe at Sule. “He was already being discussed at Dortmund and there was speculation – in addition to Real Madrid, Manchester City and a few others – but I hadn’t thought that it would be his first choice. But it’s not new to us either. We also gave Mats Hummels to Dortmund.I don’t know what salary Niklas Sule gets at Borussia Dortmund. But I don’t think it’s a sporting climb. I’m assuming that he’ll really give it his all over the next three months so that he can still clinch the titles that we have ahead of us. We all appreciated him and know what we had and still have in him. You have to ask him yourself what exactly he means by that. As they have seen in the last nine years, we know how to defend ourselves. And we will continue to do so in the future” said Hainer.
