Leicester City winger Ademola Lookman switches allegiance to Nigeria

This is massive for the Super Eagles!Leicester City winger Ademola Lookman has had his application to change his nationality to represent Nigeria instead of England approved by FIFA.Lookman, who is on loan at Leicester from RB Leipzig, was part of the Three Lions’ golden generation which superiorly won the 2017 U20 World Cup.The 24-year-old London native, who was born to Nigerian parents and grew up in Peckham, has not played for England’s senior team.Nigeria have convinced these dual-nationals to switch over and play for the Super Eagles:-Maduka Okoye 🇩🇪 (22)-Ademola Lookman 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 (24)-Leon Balogun 🇩🇪 (33)-William Troost-Ekong 🇳🇱 (28)-Ola Aina 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 (25)-Joe Aribo 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 (25)-Alex Iwobi 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 (25)— Zach Lowy (@ZachLowy) February 10, 2022 Lookman follows in Everton winger Alex Iwobi’s footsteps in representing England at the youth level before going on to represent Nigeria at the senior level.Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) chief scout Tunde Adelakun told BBC Sport Africa in November: “We are aware of Lookman’s desire to play for us, and I have spoken to him as well. However, there is a process to it.”After this process, then comes the consideration and decision of the head coach (Gernot Rohr) on whether or when he deems it fit to get him involved.”AFCON 2021: Super Eagles’ fans still cannot process the elimination from the continental tournamentNigeria will look to get Lookman involved as soon as possible as they look to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, with the Super Eagles set to face Ghana in a two-legged play-off next month. It comes after a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations campaign, which saw them crash out at the last-16 stage after falling to a 1-0 defeat by Tunisia despite enjoying a stellar group stage record.Following Lookman’s switched allegiance, the Foxes now have as many as three Nigerians in their squad. Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi are already regular for the Super Eagles.PREMIER LEAGUE – ROUND 25Saturday 15.30: (1.60) Man Utd (4.10) Southampton (6.25)18.00: (2.65) Brentford (3.05) Crystal Palace (3.05)18.00: (2.30) Everton (3.50) Leeds (3.25)18.00: (3.80) Watford (3.15) Brighton (2.25)20.30: (16.0) Norwich (7.75) Man.City (1.20)Sunday 17.00: (11.0) Burnley (6.50) Liverpool (1.28)17.00: (2.90) Newcastle (3.30) Aston Villa (2.65)17.00: (1.70) Tottenham (3.70) Wolverhampton (5.90)19.30: (3.05) Leicester (3.40) West Ham (2.45)Chelsea – Arsenal POSTPONED
