Tusker coach lambasts referee Simiyu

Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano has urged the FKF Caretaker Committee to crack down on poor officiating in the FKF Premier League. He joins many other coaches in complaining about poor officiating that is currently bewildering Kenya’s top-tier league.Matano’s complaints come after what he believes was a stone-wall penalty kicks that his side were denied by referee Moses Simiyu during their league matches against Ulinzi Stars on Wednesday afternoon. The match ended in a barren draw. The veteran tactician was incensed by Simiyu’s decision not to award the Brewers two penalty kicks in the game. The first was a handball situation involving Ulinzi’s captain of the day Brian Birgen while the second saw substitute Shami Kibwana tumble inside the Ulinzi penalty area. The tactician joined other league coaches in castigating what is slowly becoming an officiating farce and called the caretaker committee to act. He accused Simiyu of being incompetent during the weekend’s game involving Posta Rangers and AFC Leopards, a game that Ingwe came from a goal down to beat the Mail-men. There were cries from Posta camp over the manner with which he handled the gameFULL TIME in Nakuru.Tough contested tie but vital point on the road pic.twitter.com/83fCKgKtBb— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) February 16, 2022 “Ulinzi Stars defender Brian Birgen handled inside the box, while my striker Shami Mwinyi was fouled inside the box, but the referee waved play on. This is unacceptable and unfair. This is a big blunder by the referee. He behaved the same way during the AFC Leopards vs Posta Rangers, match,” the tactician told the Daily Nation. He added that his team is now focusing on their next assignment against Sofapaka but maintains that he wants the officiating inconstancies by the Aaron Ringera led committee.“We have moved on and we look forward for another match, but the FKF caretaker committee should start monitoring these dubious referees who are performing below par,” he added.Tusker will play Sofapaka on 26th February at Kasarani.
