Former Nzoia Sugar FC forward Patrick Kwitonda says he is slowly gathering steam in his bid to return to top flight action after pulling out of retirement less than five months ago.Kwitonda returned to active football before the National Super League (NSL) season began as he signed with returnees Vihiga United who made way to the second tier after losing to Kenya Police FC in the Promotion/Relegation playoff.He had been out of the game for the better part of 2021 but he says his undying passion and encouragement from former teammates and Vihiga head coach Mike Mururi saw him dust off his boots and return late last year. In future, he aspires to be an international player>CM pic.twitter.com/4X1EaLClbs— Nzoia Sugar Co.Ltd (@Nzoiasugar) May 30, 2017 The forward was among the players who led the Sugar Millers to automatic promotion to Premier League in 2017 where he formed a lethal attacking axis with Elvis Rupia and Masita Masuta.He however did not live up to expectations and left Nzoia hardly a season in the top league for former giants Shabana FC whom he featured for one season before heading to Division One side Soy United in 2019.The player says he has his eyes firmly fixed of gracing top flight football again and possibly turn professional as well as feature for the National Team.”I am slowly building my confidence with the ball and regaining my fitness as I was out for a lengthy spell. I had decided to quit active football but my friends literally dragged me back to it.
