Thiong’o hopeful of timely recovery ahead of league resumption

AFC Leopards assistant captain Peter Thiong’o has welcomed the two-week long break granted to league clubs saying it is sufficient for him to recover from an ankle injury suffered while in action against Bidco United. The winger hurt his ankle while contesting for the ball in their 1-1 draw against the Thika based club and consequently, he watched the 3-1 win over Posta Rangers from the stands.Thiong’o who was voted to deputise Marvin Nabwire said he was recovering on well and expressed hope in being ready when coach Patrick Aussems names squad that will take on debutants Vihiga Bullets.29 Goals: BreakdownYema Mwana- 7David Okoth-4Stephen Opoku-4George Odiwour-3Michael Karamor-2Brian Eshihanda-2Estone Esiye-1Moses Mudavadi-1Francis Omondi-1Sunday Mutuku-1Masha Gaetan-1Collins Odhiambo-1Sylvester Owino-1#MozzartBet#wearehomeboyz#AbanaBeingo pic.twitter.com/hPYgEbX8nf— Kakamega Homeboyz FC (@FcHomeboyz) February 19, 2022 Aussems had to ring changes in the squad that recovered from a goal down to beat Rangers, deploying Maxwell Otieno,a natural centre forward to the flank, a change that paid off as the full backs had a torrid day in office in dealing with the latter. “I am doing well in as far as recovery is converned and hopefully I will be fit for selection when the league resumes. It would be good to play a part in helping the team continue getting positive results going forward,” said the former Kakamega Homeboyz attacker.Meanwhile, former Tusker goalkeeper Robert Mboya is glad to be nearing full recovery. The custodian who is currently a free agent after parting ways with the champions late last year suffered a thigh injury that saw him announce that he will be out of action in the first leg of the league.Mboya who has been on light training with Tusker says he is on the path to full recovery and will be looking for a new club in the next transfer window.
