Meja looking to break into AIK’s first 11 after brace

Kenyan international Henry Meja opened his goal account at AIK with aplomb after notching a brace and is now looking to cement his place in the starting 11.Meja made the move from Tusker FC to Swedish side AIK back in September but had to wait till January to complete his Ksh16 million move.2–2 22/2 -22. pic.twitter.com/BBlwXddkg4— AIK Fotboll (@aikfotboll) February 22, 2022 The 20-year-old noted that he was delighted to get on the scoresheet and hopes that the goals can spur him to nail down a regular starting berth.“The game was good, we had good cooperation with the teammates, we worked hard and deserved a victory but we got a draw. We will continue working hard in the next game.It is good to be on the scoresheet and as we continue to train I will work hard to break into the first 11,” said Meja. The forward’s brace was however not enough to seal victory against Sandvikens IF as they settled for a 2-2 draw in a pre-season game. The first goal for Meja came from 12-yards as he held his nerve to convert a penalty and the second came after Omar dribbled across the byline and laid the ball on a plate for him.Halvtid på Skytteholms IP där AIK har vänt underläge till ledning 2–1 efter dubbla mål från Henry “Meja” Atola. #AIKSIF pic.twitter.com/LCwssOI8kZ— AIK Fotboll (@aikfotboll) February 22, 2022 “It was a good feeling to score, I had played three games without scoring but I finally managed to score which makes me very happy.Omar dribbled and gave me a cut back which I made a run to meet it and tap it in and the goal is good for my confidence,” added Meja.
