Matasi attributes Tusker’s scintillating form to compactness

Tusker FC custodian Patrick Matasi has attributed the good run that the team is enjoying at the moment to compactness within the side and their resolution to avoid conceding. The Brewers have managed to shake off their early struggles in the league and are currently on their best and have made their way up the log to third despite having lost six of their opening 12 matches of the season.. @matasi_patrick has played 11 league matches this season; he’s kept 9 clean sheets.🆚 Sofapaka (H) ✅🆚 Nzoia Sugar (A) ✅🆚 Kakamega Homeboyz (A) ❌🆚 Mathare United (H) ❌🆚 Vihiga Bullets (H) ✅🆚 Vihiga Bullets (A) ✅🆚 Bandari (H) ✅🆚 Bandari (A) ✅(Cont’d) pic.twitter.com/ZLIxHcjVZy— Mwawana Muema, HSC (@MwawanaMuema) February 25, 2022 Currently, they trail league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz by only seven points, being on 33 as Homeboyz lead the race with 40, with 15 matches left to play to the end of the campaign.“We were playing well and losing because of conceding easy goals and that was pulling the team down. We won and then lost two matches in a row and from there we have had a good run. It means we are believing in each other and everyone has been doing what they can to help the team that is why there is compactness. I just stirred up the boys and told them that let’s first work on conceding goals. I said that we should not concede in games and that was our starting point,” Matasi told the club’s media. The month of love was good to us.🏟️| 5 matches☑️| 4 wins🤝| 1 draw🎯| 7 goals⛔| 0 conceded #KenyaMilele #Brewers4Life pic.twitter.com/7E2btTfbKK— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) February 28, 2022 Matasi continued to say that he believed in his teammates’ ability to score, noting that he is sure they can always get goals, and being able to avoid conceding kept them in a better place to win matches.“I know that in this team we have scorers and if we can keep a clean sheet, there is a high chance we will get a goal. These simple fundamentals have worked. We have been compact as a team, worked together and everyone is going an extra mile to assist the team get good results,” he added.Since making his debut on his return to Tusker against Sofapaka in December last year, Matasi has gone on to make 10 other appearances, keeping nine clean sheets in the process.Tusker have not conceded in the last seven matches and they will be hoping to continue the same when they host Kenya Police over the weekend.
