The pressure on every Russian on the planet is getting worse by the day. After Russia attacked Ukraine, rage towards Russia transformed into a complete purge or Russian athletes whenever they exists, along with any businessman who is doing any sort of business in Europe. And the most famous of them is Roman Abramovic, the owner of Chelsea. The Blues became the force in Europe, but are not faced with a murky times, after their owner decided to sell the club and made it official tonight.Statement from Roman Abramovich.— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) March 2, 2022 After an immense pressure in recent weeks, the Russian oligarch, believed to be close to Russian president Vladimir Putin, was forced to hand over the reigns to his foundation, but remained the owner. But in recent days, a number of politicians started to pressure an already unpopular prime minister Boris Johnson to freeze all of Roman’s accounts and properties and the Russian finally decided that it was a right time to call it quits.“I would like to address the speculation in media over the past few days in relation to my ownership of Chelsea FC. As I have stated before, I have always taken decisions with the Club’s best interest at heart. In the current situation, I have therefore taken the decision to sell the Club, as I believe this is in the best interest of the Club, the fans, the employees, as well as the Club’s sponsors and partners. The sale of the Club will not be fast-tracked but will follow due process. I will not be asking for any loans to be repaid. This has never been about business nor money for me, but about pure passion for the game and Club. Moreover, I have instructed my team to set up a charitable foundation where all net proceeds from the sale will be donated. The foundation will be for the benefit of all victims of the war in Ukraine. This includes providing critical funds towards the urgent and immediate needs of victims, as well as supporting the long-term work of recovery. Please know that this has been an incredibly difficult decision to make, and it pains me to part with the Club in this manner. However, I do believe this is in the best interest of the Club. I hope that I will be able to visit Stamford Bridge one last time to say goodbye to all of you in person. It has been a privilege of a lifetime to be part of Chelsea FC and I am proud of all our joint achievements. Chelsea Football Club and its supporters will always be in my heart” said Abramovich in an official statement on the club’s website.🚨 Hansjorg Wyss, an 86-year-old Swiss billionaire, has confirmed he is one of four people to have been offered the chance to bid for Chelsea yesterday.(Source: Football London) pic.twitter.com/xgb1cXSlva— Transfer News Live (@DeadlineDayLive) March 2, 2022 In recent days, numerous reports informed that Russian oligarch was trying to sell all his villas in England, and he also wanted to get rid of Chelsea quickly, as explained by Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss.  “I can well imagine starting at Chelsea with partners. But I have to examine the general conditions first. But what I can already say: I’m definitely not doing something like this alone. If I buy Chelsea, then with a consortium consisting of six to seven investors” said Wyss. The Russian-Israeli billionaire has owned the Blues since 2003 and helped steer the Stamford Bridge club to 19 major trophies. Now he is selling the club for around 3 billion British pounds, while the club owns him around 1.5 billion.
