Homeboyz maintain unbeaten away run with win over Posta

Kakamega Homeboyz made it eight games unbeaten following their 3-1 win over Posta Rangers to maintain their away unbeaten run in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) clash staged at the Thika Stadium on Saturday.Homeboyz head coach Bernard Mwalala was impressed with the huge win and was also delighted to score early goals which has been synonymous with his side in recent games.”We have continued with what we have done in the past two matches by getting early goals because we have been conceding in the second half and if you look at the games we have dropped points we were only scoring one or two goals so I’m happy with the three goals,” said Mwalala.Abana Abeingo arrived into the clash looking to fasten their grip at the summit of the log and preserve their unbeaten run away from home and were also on a seven game unbeaten run.Full Time:Posta Rangers 1-3 Kakamega HomeboyzOkoth 15’Opoku 22’Owino 36′ pic.twitter.com/yzcqpW52Kp— Kakamega Homeboyz FC (@FcHomeboyz) March 5, 2022 Posta on the other hand were looking for their second successive win under Salim Ali who was appoint to replace the departed Stanley Okumbi after securing a win over FC Talanta last time out.Bernard Mwalala’s charges had a strong start to the game as they were on the ascendency in the opening minutes and made their advantage count in the 17th minute when David Okoth fired Homeboyz into the lead to cap his birthday with his sixth goal of the season. The league leaders did not waste any time in doubling their lead as they took a commanding lead five minutes later when Ghanaian import Stephen Opoku chipped the ball home after some lovely interplay in the final third.Posta however refused to go down without a fight as they pulled one back a minute after the half hour mark through Brian Otieno to hand Salim Ali’s men a route back into the tie after a torrid start to the game.Homeboyz however restored their two goal lead in the 36th minute through Sylvester Owino who tapped in from close range for only his second goal this season as Homeboyz went into the break with a 3-1 lead.Second half Unimpressed by the lethargic opening half Salim Ali rang the changes as he withdrew Victor Ndinya who had a pedestrian first half for Francis Nambute but the changes failed to yield the desired results.Homeboyz continued to dominate in the second half but failed to take their chances with Yema Mwamba and David Okoth guilty of spurning a number of chances.Salim Ali was sent to the stands for protesting the referee’s decision but first he was handed a caution but refused to keep his mouth shut as he was handed his marching orders.Homeboyz managed the game well to collect three vital points in the title race as Salim Ali suffered his first loss as the Posta Rangers head coach.Posta Rangers Starting XI: Kelvin Opiyo, Dinken Mwema (Sammy Imbuye 72′), Sammy Meja, Suleiman Ngotho, Geoffrey Shiveka, Thomas Wainaina, Benard Ondiek, Victor Ndinya (Francis Nambute 46′), Vincent Wasambo (Victor Majid 72′), Brian Otieno (Cavin Odongo 58′), Dwang Jackson (Patrick Otieno 58′), Brian Marita.Unused subs: Samuel Njau, David Ochieng, Michael Apudo, Sammy Odero, Chrispinus Onyango.Homeboyz Starting XI: Godfrey Oputi, David Odhiambo, Evans Maliachi, Sylvester Owino, George Odiwour, Stephen Wakanya, Moses Mudavadi, Stephen Opoku (Brian Eshihanda 76′), Mike Isabwa (Raymond Murugi 81′), David Okoth (Gaetan Masha 76′), Yema Mwamba.Unused Subs: David Juma, Elix Otieno, Eric Ambunya, Estone Esiye, Ali Bhai.
