Akhulia refuses to castigate FKFPL referees in the wake of widespread acrimony

Despite being on the receiving end of comedic refereeing on Saturday, Bidco United’s head coach Anthony Akhulia has refused to reprimand match officials emphasizing that they have a mandate to make decisions. The Thika-based club picked up their first victory in six matches after their 2-0 win over Nairobi City Stars which handed them some breathing space in the relegation battle. We suffer defeat in Thika#CityStars #BIDNCS pic.twitter.com/yPcsFu6IZK— Official Nairobi City Stars Fc (@NrbCityStars) March 5, 2022 The game was however marred by shambolic refereeing as Bidco were awarded a dubious penalty and Geoffrey Gitau was sent off for Ezekiel Odera fighting him.The drama was not over as Nicholas Kipkirui was tripped in what looked like a foul outside the box with the centre referee Caroline Wanjala pointing the spot as the former Zoo FC forward missed the penalty including a retake.Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Akhulia was coy on talking about the referees but highlighted some of the key talking points from the match.“I can’t talk much about officiating, the referees did what they felt was right, to me it’s fine even if we start talking about the red card, it’s Odera who fought but both of them were given a red card.Bidco were awarded this spot kick against City Stars.
