Run! Ringera run! Scathing FKF Branch chairman warns retired judge amid deepening football impasse

The unfortunate comedy served as Kenyan football turned more acrimonious recently when Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Murang’a Branch chairman Robert Macharia picked a quarrel with FKF Caretaker Committee chairman Aaron Ringera over management of football at the branch level. In an explicit dress down of the Amina Mohamed-appointed Caretaker Committee, Macharia listed a catalogue of tasks he wants the Caretaker Committee to desist from, claiming they amount to usurping the powers of FKF Branches.“Matters of administration, refereeing and leagues at county level are matters of my office, and other branch offices, and you should not interfere with them whatsoever,” Macharia warns in his scathing letter seen by Mozzart Sport.Of particular concern to Macharia is the caretaker Committee’s demand for compliance documents from branches ad clubs. He states that the requirements for clearance certificates is unconstitutional and unsustainable as FKF is already registered and there’s no need for branches to be registered again. The fuming branch chairman quoted a Sports Disputes Tribunal ruling stating that: “National sports organizations are at liberty to have branch offices in which event there is no requirement for a separate registration for those branch offices under the Act or Regulation,”Macharia further accused Ringera and the caretaker Committee of desecrating the FKF Constitution by taking charge of referees’ appointments and warned of impending legal action should things remain the same.He counselled the retired judge to re-read the football governing body FIFA’s rejection of the appointment of caretaker Committee and quit. “Against the backdrop of this FIFA directive my unsolicited advice is to run while your reputation is still intact,”In response to a Caretaker Committee letter calling branches to a meeting Macharia articulated the supremacy of branches over FKF National Executive Committee and Caretaker Committee by extension then dismissed the summons.“The branches therefore cannot answer to summonses issued by the NEC and by extension Caretaker Committee. We are aware of the current status of Kenyan football in view of establishment of Caretaker Committee and FIF Suspension and reasons behind it,” a defiant Macharia stated.
