Chelsea community found it difficult to focus on football but regardless the players of their beloved recorded a sixth straight victory over Norwich City with Mason Mount scoring and assisting in a 3-1 win at Carrow Road. Even with the day starting with some disturbing news (the UK Government freezing Chelsea as an asset) and despite all the uncertainty off the field, the Blues remained composed throughout the first half in East Anglia. It did not take long before the visitors took the lead – with only three minutes on the board Trevoh Chalobah powerfully headed home Mount’s whipped corner.Soon after Kai Havertz saw his shot well-saved by Tim Krul – but the Dutch custodian was later helpless as Mount thrashed Chelsea’s second into the roof of the net.The Londoners kept pressuring and beautiful passing moves almost brought a third goal for Thomas Tuchel’s side. However, Mount (who loves playing against Norwich – scored in each of his last four league appearances against the Canaries) shot too wide. Norwich are winless in 18 attempts against Chelsea and the hosts never looked like getting back into the match as the first half unfolded like a training session. Eventually, Dean Smith’s men gave Edouard Mendy something to do but Christoph Zimmermann’s deflected shot forced only a comfortable save from the Senegalese. The second half opened with Mount once more tormenting those in canary yellow – with Krul denying him his second goal of the evening. After the break, Norwich looked much better and were rewarded with a penalty in the 69th minute. Chalobah was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the area and Teemu Pukki then stepped up. Finland international sent Mendy the wrong way, halving his team’s deficit. Unfortunately for the home team, Chelsea restored a two-goal cushion through Havertz late on ending all hope of a Norwich comeback.Norwich remain bottom of the table following tonight’s defeat and Smith’s side stay five points behind 17th-placed Everton, who have three games in hand over the Canaries. Chelsea collect their 56th point and solidify their third spot placement.PREMIER LEAGUERearranged gamesThursdayWolverhampton – Watford 4-0 (3-0)/Jimenez 13, Cucho 18, Podence 21, Neves 85/Southampton – Newcastle 1-2 (1-1)/Armstrong 25 – Wood 32, Gumaraes 52/Norwich – Chelsea 1-3 (0-2)/Pukki 69 – Chalobah 3, Mount 14, Havertz 90/Leeds – Aston Villa 0-3 (0-1)/Coutinho 22, Cash 66, Chambers 73/***odds are subject to change
