Lucas Torreira scores a rare goal to hand Fiorentina a slender win over Bologna

Needs must, as they say. After Fiorentina were left without their best striker Dusan Vlahovic, they were forced to find a new source of goals. And they’ve got an unlikely one in Lucas Torreira. Fiorentina have had 17 different Serie A goalscorers this season, a figure second only to Atalanta. Torreira looked to be the man to break the deadlock when Viola met Bologna in the first Serie A match on Sunday. The former Arsenal man scored a scrappy goal from close range, but it brought three points to Vincenzo Italiano’s team.Riccardo Orsolini should have put Bologna ahead when he rounded goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano but he somehow hit the post when it was easier to score. Things would take a turn for the worse for Sinisa Mihajlovic’s men just before the break. Kevin Bonifazi was sent off after earning two yellow cards.Torreira had already hit the woodwork before he got on the scoresheet with 20 minutes to go. He bundled the ball over the line after Cristiano Biraghi’s cross was diverted by Gaetano Castrovilli. It was an unlikey goalscorer, but his effort proved to be the difference at Stadio Artemio Franchi.SERIE A – ROUND 29SaturdaySpezia – Cagliari 2-0 (0-0)/Erlic 55, Manaj 74/Salernitana – Sassuolo 2-2 (1-2)/Bonazzoli 8, Djuric 81 – Scamacca 20, Traore 30/Sampdoria – Juventus 1-3 (0-2)/Yoshida 23 og, Morata 34 pen, 88 – Morata 84 og/Milan – Empoli 1-0 (1-0)/Kalulu 19/SundayFiorentina – Bologna 1-0 (0-0)/Torreira 70/17:00: (3.60) Verona (3.50) Napoli (2.15)20:00: (1.35) Atalanta (4.90) Genoa (9.50)20:00: (3.35) Udinese (3.20) Roma (2.25)22:45: (5.20) Torino (3.70) Inter (1.70)Monday22:45: (1.33) Lazio (5.20) Venezia (9.00)*** odds are subject to change***
