Tusker centre back Kirenge yearning for Taifa Stars call up

After watching his compatriot Ibrahim Joshua earn a call up to the Tanzania national team, Taifa Stars, Tusker centre back Kalos Kirenge is looking forward to accompanying him to the team in the next international week.Ibrahim was handed his maiden call up to the Taifa Stars by coach Kim Poulesen for the friendly matches against Central Africa Republic and Sudan set to be played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam on March 23 and 29 respectively. The left footed forward was considered in the 28-man provisional squad for the two test matches courtesy of the eight league goals he had managed for the brewers before the competition went on a break.📽️| The moment Brian Bwire and Kalos Kirenge won the Super Cup for us.#KenyaMilele #Brewers4Life pic.twitter.com/BipL1zgqRF— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) September 22, 2021 However, luck was not on his fellow country man’s side as he was overlooked partly due to the fact that he has been seeing limited playing time at Tusker. The two Tanzanians joined Tusker in August last year from Ken Gold FC and Namungo where Ibrahim was fished out from the former with Kirenge joining from the latter. With the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations set to begin in the next international window, Kirenge vowed to work his socks off and earn a recall to the national team.Tackle? Good enough. 👍Tackle + Skill? It opened for my good friend Ibrahim and hopefully next time we will make it together. I will continue working hard and I am sure my efforts will be dully rewarded,” he said.Kirenge, a former Biashara United and KMC player in the meantime will be hoping to return to the Tusker first team when the league resumes next month.Tusker’s Tanzanian import handed maiden national team call upThe player played a crucial role in Tusker’s sojourn in continental matches early in the season but injury struck and has consequently had to work his way back to the time as for the time he was injured, coach Robert Matano found a solid pair at the heart of the defence. The veteran coach has been pairing Charles Momanyi and Christopher Oruchum at central defence from the time Kirenge and skipper Eugene Asike got injured.
