Coastal Union move on after Mwalala snub

Costal Union Fans and Motivation Chairman, Salim Bawazir says the team has shifted its recruitment focus after missing out on Kakamega Homeboyz coach Bernard Mwalala who opted to remain with the FKF Premier League at least until the end of the season.Union were keen on signing Mwalala who is their former player and assistant coach. He was to replace ex Wazito FC, Sofapaka and Mt. Kenya United coach Melis Medo who resigned last month citing interference.The club had also been linked with former Biashara United and Mtibwa Sugar coach Mecky Mexime but Bawazir now says they could recruit from within or outside Tanzania.“Despite failing to bring Mwalala and Mexime, the team’s management is still seeking for a head coach in and outside the country. He says reluctance from Homeboyz to let him go resulted in the deal falling through. Thanks but no thanks, miracle working Mwalala turns down Tanzanian side“It’s true our deal to recruit Mwalala as our squad’s head coach was dissolved but the issue was how to terminate the contract. The management of his team refused to allow him to come until the end of the Kenyan Premier League but frankly speaking, he was ready to join Coastal Union,” he added.In an earlier interview, Mwalala termed Coastal Union approach as a great honour and did not rule out returning to the team in future.“Coastal Union is a team close to my heart because I played for them and when I stopped playing I also served as an assistant coach at the club and I really want to thank the club for considering me for the job, for me it is a great owner and maybe it was not the right time for a reunion but let’s wait and see what happens in the future,” he stated
