‘We’re not considering Messi’s return’

Sentence one: Lionel Messi is unhappy at PSG. He is not playing on his Barca level, his off the field life is not like he’s used to in Spain, the crowd is booing him and a quest for the Champions League trophy is over. Sentence number two: Barcelona’s financial situation is better (not yet great), there is enough space for the new players, Leo’s former teammate Xavi is in charge now, and the team looks promising and will attack La Liga title next season. So, the logical conclusion is that the Argentinian is interested to come back to his club. And, the articles in both Spain and France are suggesting that. But…’Haaland and Mbappe? We won’t risk club’s finances’Juan Laporta was the president who had to say to their best player in history that he won’t be able to play for Barcelona anymore. And their excellent relationship deteriorated after that. And when these rumors about a possible return began to surface, it was Laporta who (again) had to pour the cold water on all the optimists.  “I’ve received no message from Lionel Messi or his camp over a possibility of returning to Barcelona. At the moment we are not considering it. I no longer have a fluid communication with Messi like I did before he left. His departure almost made me feel more bad for personal and family reasons rather than just strictly sporting ones. We’re not considering Messi’s return. We are building a new team, with a mix of young players and experience – the symbiosis is working. But Leo is Leo and he’ll always be a winner. For me it sure wasn’t easy for him to go, but, as it happened, I thought about the club finances, I couldn’t put it at more risk. I think we did what we had to do” said Laporta to RAC1(1.12) SPAIN (9.00) ICELAND (20.0)Just days ago, Messi’s former teammate and current Barcelona coach Xavi left the door wide open for his old pal. “Messi has earned having the doors open to Barca. As long as I’m the coach here, if he wants to come every day to watch training or talk to the coach, what he’s given us is priceless, he’s the best player in history. He deserves a big tribute from the club. But today he has a contract with PSG, I think he signed for two years” Xavi said. But, Laporta shut that door with RAC1 interview. The Argentinian will probably stay in PSG.
