Mwalala lauds charges after perfect performance against Ulinzi Stars

Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Bernard Mwalala has lauded his players for putting Ulinzi Stars to the sword with an emphatic 4-0 win over the Soldiers at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Sunday.Mwalala’s charges picked their biggest win of the season after downing the Soldiers and in the process opened a 10-point gap at the top with ten matches left before the current campaign comes to a close. Goals from Mike Isabwa, David Okoth (2), and Chris Masinza helped Mwalala’s charges complete a double over Ulinzi having downed the side by a solitary goal in the first leg that was staged at the Thika Sub-County Stadium two weeks ago.The coach was happy with his team’s display in a packed Bukhungu and he says it took good preparation for his team to complete a double over Benjamin Nyangweso’s men.Full Time:Kakamega Homeboyz 4-0 Ulinzi StarsIsabwa ‘21Okoth ’58Okoth ’71Masinza ’86 pic.twitter.com/IwuQ9vgRW2— Kakamega Homeboyz FC (@FcHomeboyz) April 2, 2022 “Getting back-to-back wins against the same team is not easy. It took some good preparation for us to get such a win. There was a break after our last game against Ulinzi and that can affect continuity and it also gave Ulinzi a chance to go and prepare but I am happy that we played well and got all the three points against them,” he stated. He was also full of praise for the team and fans but warned against premature celebration as he believes that they have not wrapped up the title yet.“It was a perfect performance because it is our biggest win of the season and we also managed to keep a clean sheet. I want to congratulate the players, the team and the fans for the support they accorded the team to help us get this important win. We have not won the title yet, we will keep pushing to the end,” he added. We will have to go back to the drawing board and try to establish what happened but this is an atrocious outcome. We have a good squad, it was just one of those days that the opponent was clinical and made our mistakes count. I cannot say that we have a bad squad,” he stated.Ulinzi will play Nairobi City Stars away on Saturday 9th April.
