Aussems elaborates the tactical call to rest goal poacher Makwata in Wazito triumph

AFC Loepards coach Patrick Aussems has explained why he took off John Makwata ten minutes into the second half in a league match against Wazito FC at the Thika Sub-County Stadium on Sunday afternoon. With the game tied at 1-1, the tactician made a bold move taking off his lead striker for Nigerian Ojo Olaniyi who went on to score a late winner for Ingwe to help them register a second consecutive league win after the inhalation of Kenya Police FC a week ago.Makwata had scored the equalizer for Ingwe canceling out James Kinyanjui’s opener to make it three goals in three games since his return to the den. And asked why he opted to take off the seasoned forward, Aussems said the ‘unplayable’ state of Thika Stadium made it difficult for the striker to flourish as he is a technical player and he thus opted to rest him for Friday’s return leg clash against Wazito.John Makwata scores against his parent club and celebrates vizuri.#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/VedWdhOfH6— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) March 20, 2022 “Do you think this is a game for him? With long ball like that, with a bad pitch. This is a guy who is a technical player and so it was better to substitute him and to let him play and make a difference on Friday,” he stated. He once again the tactician praised youngster Lewis Bandi for his second half performance in the middle of the park. Aussems made a switch at half time introducing Josphat Lopaga and Washington Munene for Eugene Mukangula and Giovanni Lukhumwa and the switch resulted in Bandi moving into the defensive midfield position where he put in a good shift.“You know we are lucky with Bandi because he can play any position. He was very good again today,” he added.
