Zico seeks to instill confidence to solve KCB’s woes

KCB FC head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno intends to change tact going forward in a bid to inspire the club back to winning ways. The Bankers have been struggling to keep up with the pace as they have collected maximum points once in the last ten rounds, a run that has seen them drop to eighth on the log.KCB were thought to be potential title candidates before the season kicked off given their last season’s performance where they lost the crown to Tusker by two points.✨ One @FelixOluoch_ with a kichwa kama teke for yesterday’s opener against KCB.🤝 @Betway_KE #WeAreSharks #BetwaySharks pic.twitter.com/ICEr49OPLh— Kariobangi Sharks FC (@k_sharksfc) April 18, 2022 The club flexed its financial muscle in the both off and mid-season transfer windows by acquiring a number of decent players but that has not translated into the desired run of results. In the interest of a strong finish, Zico said that he will seek to restore the confidence in the playing unit rather than subjecting players to more intense training sessions.“I really have to restore the players’ confidence for the team to do better in the remaining rounds. No amount of training can produce the much-needed turnaround. It is all about injecting the belief and mental strength in them and I am sure it will work for us,” he said.✂️| Julius Masaba pulled a rabona assist in the opening goal against KCB.⚖️| How would you rate it out of 10.#WeAreSharks #BetwaySharks pic.twitter.com/uvIYcT4XpP— Kariobangi Sharks FC (@k_sharksfc) April 12, 2022 Zico who still insists that the team is still within the objective of the season said the greatest undoing in the past ten matches has been a lack of punch in the final third and gifting opponents cheap goals. He also blamed injuries especially at the heart of the defence for the run that increasingly puts them at the risk of finishing outside the top five brackets. The club lost the centre-halves duo of Robinson Kamura and Rama Mwenda to long term injuries.
