Akumu’s Kaizer Chiefs sack coach

Kenyan international Anthony Akumu might be handed a new lease of life at Kaizer Chiefs after the club reportedly parted ways with head coach Stuart Baxter.Chiefs are yet to release an official statement on Baxter’s sacking but a number of credible South African news outlets have already broken the news.GONE!!!@KaizerChiefs have parted ways with head coach, Stuart Baxter. The club will make an official announcement today.#FARPost pic.twitter.com/9XeylCk9XC— FARPost_ZA (@FARPostZA) April 21, 2022 The sacking of Baxter could hand Akumu a lifeline at Chiefs having failed to make a single appearance for the club this year as he last featured back in November 2021.According to Soccer Laduma, assistant coaches Arthur Zwane and Dillion Sheppard will be in charge for the remainder of the season.Baxter was shown the door after a string of inconsistent results which saw them emerge victorious in four of the last 10 games. His final straw, if the news is to be believed was the 1-0 loss to a manager-less Supersport United on Saturday which saw them drop out of continental football places. The Chiefs fans were rancorous after the Supersport defeat as they hurled objects at Baxter following the defeat and called for his sacking.Speaking in a press conference after the game, Baxter revealed that he would walk out of the club if the Chairman Kaizer Motaung asked him to do so.🗣Chiefs fans: “Baxter must go.” pic.twitter.com/CGEC2EqutL— Lorenz Köhler (@Lorenz_KO) April 16, 2022 “I don’t have any message to the fans, because if they want me to go, I will go. If the chairman (Kaizer Motaung) says to me ‘Stuart, I don’t think you are doing a good job,’ then I will walk. I’ve got no problem doing that. I will walk myself if I don’t think I’m affecting the team in a positive way, I will walk. No problem,” said Baxter.
