Eugene Asike unveiled in Sweden by new side IF Karlstad

The 2020/2021 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) Defender of the Year Eugene Asike has officially been unveiled by his Swedish third-tier side IF Karlstad Fotboll.Barely a week ago, 12-time Kenyan champions Tusker FC announced that their team captain will be ending his second stint at the club following positive talks with Karlstad.“We would like to confirm that skipper Eugene Asike has left the club following the positive talks on a move to Swedish side IF Karlstad Fotboll. Asike has had two different stints with Tusker FC over the last six years, winning two Premier League titles, one FKF Cup title, and was named as the defender of the year last season as the team captain,” read a statement from the Brewers.Official: Tusker captain moves to Swedish third-tier side Karlstad IFFour days later, the former Sofapaka man was then unveiled by his new side in Sweden where he was unveiled via a video posted on the club’s social media pages.“As a football player, I would describe myself as calm and collected. A winner who has that winning mentality. Aggressive where need be and also intelligent. I am coming to Karlstad because I believe in the project. The team has the ambition to go up the ladder and I will do my best to make sure we achieve our objectives this season,” the player said in the unveiling video.Currently, Karlstad are in 12th position on the log on two points from the opening three games in the sixteen-team third-tier Swedish league.IF Karlstad Football was founded in 2019 with the merger of Carlstad United and Karlstad BK. The club currently competes in Ettan Norra. They ended last season at 4th in the league.
