The title that nobody celebrates – PSG is Ligue 1 champion

It was March 9th 2022 at around midnight Nairobi time when the time stopped for Paris Saint Germain. Karim Benzema just scored his second goal of the night and kicked out the Parisian from the Champions League, which they were certain to win. And nothing was right from that moment on. Mauricio Pochettino’s time in Paris might be over, Lionel Messi was booed by the spoiled PSG crowd and title is won, but nobody cares. PSG Ultras decided to attend all home games, but choose to remain silent, boycotting the players and management due to poor results in the Champions League. They even organized a title celebration after tonight’s game against Lens, but they decided to do it 25 minutes before the end of the game, outside the stadium, away from the players. And they were right to walk away early, since they missed the Lens equalizer in the 88th minute for a bore draw – 1:1.🔚 C’est terminé au Parc des Princes ! 🙌🏆 Le Paris Saint-Germain est sacré 𝓒𝓱𝓪𝓶𝓹𝓲𝓸𝓷 𝓭𝓮 𝓕𝓻𝓪𝓷𝓬𝓮 à l’issue de cette rencontre !#PSGRCL❤️💙 #ICICESTPARIS pic.twitter.com/xNcSjrzc4K— Paris Saint-Germain (@PSG_inside) April 23, 2022 This is PSG’s 10th French title and the fact that they won 8 of them when Qatar owners arrived says it all. They are now tied with Saint Etienne (who is in relegation zone) and have one more than arch rivals Marseille (they also have 10, but Ligue 1 didn’t recognized them one title in the amateur league, so they have 9) but in PSG, French titles are no so interesting. They are expected without saying, just like in Munich, where Bayern also won another title today. All they care about in Paris is the Champions League, and they missed it again.Even thou the Parisians needed only a draw with Lens to become champions, no festivities were planned at the Parc des Princes tonight and even the club owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi was missing, as he was in Doha for some ‘important meetings’. The game itself was boring and the fans saw one uninterested and tired PSG team, who took the lead only when Lens were 10 men down, but also allowed a goal from the first chance in the 88th minute. In an uninteresting first half, we saw two shots over the bar by each opponent. It was Kylian Mbappe with two good chances, but the Frenchmen simply was not precise and shot over the post each time. Lens’ captain Seko Fofana also had two good opportunities (not so good as Mbappe’s) and also managed two shots off target and that was it. The whistles from the packed Parc de Princes at the end of the first half said it all.PSG’s best player continued with his misses in the second half too, as his shot was cleared off the line by Wooh in the 53rd minute. Another ‘help’ to PSG arrived in the 57th minute, when Danso was expelled after receiving second yellow card. Minutes, later, Lionel Messi unleashed a ‘bomb’ from the free kick, but Leca tipped the ball away. Still, Lens keeper couldn’t do anything minutes later, when the Argentinian took a beautiful shot from 20 meters and put the ball into the upper right corner of the net for the lead. But in the 88th minute, Lens made their only chance in the second half and with only 10 players scored an equalizer, to make title celebration for home fans even more miserable.LIGUE 1 – ROUND 34SaturdayOlympique Lyon – Montpellier 5-2 (2-2)/Dembele 26, Mendes 43, Aouar 63, 90+2, Toko Ekambi 68 – Wahi 45+1, Savanier (p) 45+4/Saint-Etienne – Monaco 1-4 (1-2)/Khazri 42 (p) – Yedder 23, Volland 25, Kolodziejczak 71 (og), Boadu 77/PSG – Lens 1:1 (0:0)/Messi 68 – Jean 88/Sunday14:00: (1.48) Rennes (4.40) Lorient (8.00)16:00: (2.35) Clermont (3.25) Angers (3.40)16:00: (3.30) Metz (3.15) Brest (2.45)16:00: (1.80) Nantes (3.70) Bordeaux (5.00)16:00: (1.65) Nice (3.80) Troyes (6.25)18:05: (2.15) Lille (3.35) Strasbourg (3.80)21:45: (4.20) Reims (3.45) Olympique Marseille (2.00)***odds are subject to change*********************************************
