Gor Mahia head coach Andreas Spier has issued a rallying call to club supporters to start attending the team’s games with the Mashemeji Derby a fortnight away.The record league champions have over the years enjoyed fanatical support across the nation but after the Covid-19 pandemic, their match attendance has been dwindling with just a handful of fans showing up for their games even when staged in Nairobi.Their arch-rivals AFC Leopards on the other hand have been recording an increased number of fans attending their games and are currently the team with the biggest number of fans showing up for their games. He says they are working on their mentality and will appreciate the support of fans. He is further targeting to finish in the second position.“I urge our fans to come back now that we are one match away from the derby and we need to win our next game to build on our mentality. We are targeting second place but if we play well and the chance of winning the title comes then we shall take it,” he said.Gor Mahia returned to winning ways on Saturday with a 1-0 win over KCB at the Thika Sub-County Stadium. Benson Omala scored the all-important goal in the dying embers of the game to take his tally against the Bankers this season to three having scored a brace in the first leg.
