KCB refuse to throw in the towel on title race

Despite having a lot of ground to cover in a bid to catch Kakamega Homeboyz, KCB FC head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno has refused to rule themselves out of the title race. The Bankers currently trail log leaders Homeboyz by 15 points and the gap could grow to 18 points if the Kakamega-based side beat Kenya Police FC in their fixture on Sunday afternoon.🟢 | MATCH RESULTS FULL TIME: KCB 0 – 1 GOR MAHIA ( ⚽️ – Benson Omalla ) 💪💪#Sirkal | https://t.co/Hc8koPGJrr pic.twitter.com/xgvN2isOD4— GOR MAHIA FC (@OfficialGMFC) April 23, 2022 Zico who came close to winning the league title last season after trailing champions Tusker by two points still believes his side are in the title race mathematically.”By the time we were playing against Gor we had 24 points to fight for and I think Homeboyz are not ahead of us by 24 points but now it has reduced to 21, everyday if we fail to get a win, hopes keep on reducing. The hopes are still there though because football is about 90 minutes, if the 90 minutes are not over you cannot say it is over,” said Zico.KCB are however in a wretched run of form having won just two games in the last 15 outings and suffered another loss to Gor Mahia on Saturday which severely dented their title hopes.Zico added that the team should not be in the position they are in after slipping to eighth on the log and noted that confidence could be key in turning around results.Omala strikes late to guide Gor Mahia past hapless KCB”The results we are getting and the position we are in, we are not supposed to be there. Every time we try to dominate matches but at the end of the day we draw or lose, going forward it all about giving the boys confidence. There is no fitness you can train, there are no tactics you can give because we have already done them all and they know what to do it’s all about the individuals now,” added Zico.
