Rich but wretched Wazito hope to ease relegation woes in duel with City Stars

Relegation threatened moneybags Wazito FC play the first of their last six league games against Nairobi City Stars at the Kasarani Annex on Monday afternoon with evident desperation to at least catch up with play-off occupants Vihiga Bullets who lodge four points ahead. The Fred Ambani-led Wazito has not picked a win in the last nine outings and they will be keen on downing Simba Wa Nairobi who hasn’t won in the last two games.Wazito are at the wrong end of the log and a win, in particular, will be crucial as fellow relegation battlers Vihiga Bullets picked a win on Sunday after stunning Kariobangi Sharks at the Kasarani Annex. Both teams head to the game with injury concerns. Wazito are without captain Johnstone Omurwa and John Kuol who are sidelined while Simba wa Nairobi will be without Peter Opiyo, Erick Ombija, Vincent Otieno, Steve Njunge through injury while Anthony Kimani is suspended.Match Day#Wazito4life pic.twitter.com/BMuuz66mpJ— Wazito Football Club (@wazitofc) May 9, 2022 The hosts’ striker Erick Otieno who bagged the equaliser last weekend against Kakamega Homeboyz is confident and understands the importance of his side getting the points against Simba wa Nairobi. “We want to move up the log and as such we have to fight for the three points. We have to build on last weekend’s draw against the league leaders and return to winning ways. We have prepared well for the game and I am confident that we can pick a result,” he stated.City Stars right-back Kevin Okumu wants his team to get a result over his former employer.”It is an important game for us because we have not won in our last two matches and it is paramount that we bounce back. Wazito is a good team even though they are not in a good position, we expect them to put in a good fight and as such we have to be at our best and give our best to get a win,” he stated.
