Barely a week after being put up for sale, Kenyan forward Jonah Ayunga has joined Scottish Premier League outfit St. Mirren after penning a two-year deal.Despite still having a contract with English League One side Morecambe, Ayunga was put up in the transfer market after just spending a season with the club.Kenyan forward set to be released by English clubThe 24-year-old was brought into the club by his former manager Stephen Robinson who roped into Morecambe at the start of the season from English League Two side Bristol Rovers last summer. The Kenyan managed six goals last season and helped Morecambe survive relegation by the barest of margins but spent a number of months on the sidelines due to injuries.Ayunga becomes the fourth signing of St. Mirren with Robinson noting that the quartet will bolster the squad ahead of next season and is looking to bring other players on board.Season done! Happy for everyone involved with the club that we were able to get the job done. Big thanks to the fans who stuck by us all season🦐 https://t.co/ZgkkrvFn3q— Jonah Ayunga (@JonahAyunga) May 1, 2022 “We’ve got four players signed which we’ll announce over the coming weeks. All four will strengthen the squad and enhance what we’ve already got.“I believe we need a couple more, maybe three, so there’s still more business to be done. Especially when the market opens up in England,” said Robinson. The Scottish side have beefed up their squad with the signings of Keanu Baccus from Western Sydney Wanderers and Mark O’Hara from Motherwell and are in advanced talks with Northern Irish keeper Trevor Carson from Dundee United.Ayunga is a Brighton and Hove Albion Academy graduate and has played for a number of clubs including Sligo Rovers, Galway United, Sutton United and Havant & Waterlooville.
