Sakari craving maiden title win with Tusker

Tusker’s marauding right back Daniel Sakari has opened up on what lifting his maiden league title would mean to him in his very first season after joining the Robert Matano coached side.At the start of the 2021/2022 Football Kenya Federation Premier League, the Harambee Stars defender was among the over ten players who ditched Kariobangi Sharks in favour of moves elsewhere. Alongside goalkeeper Brian Bwire, the former Green Commandos ace found himself joining the black and yellow of Tusker who had lifted their twelfth league title in the previous 2020/2021 campaign.OFFICIAL| Defender Daniel Sakari joins @tusker_fc from @k_sharksfcAll the best#KPLTransfers #KenyanFootball #Football #JazaStadi pic.twitter.com/zwYP5C817Z— Jaza Stadi (@jaza_stadi) September 7, 2021 This season, after what was a very difficult start for the reigning champions who even found themselves occupying last position in the standings after the opening rounds, the Brewers showed pedigree in trimming down what was once a 15 point deficit to only trailing log leaders Kakamega Homeboyz by only one point with five games to go before the season’s curtains draw to a close. With Tusker now brimming in confidence over defending their title and them having the kinder fixtures (Nairobi City Stars, Nzoia Sugar, Mathare United, Bidco United and Posta Rangers) compared to Homeboyz (KCB, Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, FC Talanta and Kariobangi Sharks), Sakari is hopeful that his side can get over the line in defending their title and handing him his very first top flight title.“There are people who have finished their careers without a league title to their name. Before my dreams of plying my trade outside the country, I would really love to win this league title. It would mean a lot to me being my first season with Tusker. It will also come at a time when I am starting to settle in everything both in my career and outside the pitch with my family,” the defender told Mozzart Sport.Daniel Sakari – From oblivion to cementing Harambee Stars’ right back positionOn his part, the defender acknowledges that the focus is all about themselves and intents to fight tooth and nail to help the Brewers lift a thirteenth league title.“We know we just have to win our remaining games if we are to all the way. Personally, I will give my very best to see to it that we achieve getting the title. If it is defending, that is where I will give my all to keep out the opposition from our territory,” he added. As things stand, only one point is the difference between Tusker and Kakamega Homeboyz which was the first club that gave Danie Sakari his first taste of top flight football before his move to Sharks.
