Masud nets first goal of the year in Morocco

Kenyan international Masud Juma broke his 10-game scoring drought for Difaâ El Jadida after scoring his first goal this year in the 2-2 draw against Ittihad Tanger in the Moroccan Botola Pro.The former Cape Town City FC forward has had his season plagued by injury as he missed 12 games with a niggly thigh injury that kept him out on two separate occasions.With the referee’s whistle still echoing in the Stade El Abdi, Mohammed Bemammer opened the scoring for Ittihad Tanger with his effort from just outside the box rippling the back of the net in the second minute.Masud was fouled inside the box as he prepared to off load a shot with the referee pointing to the spot as Zakaria Hadraf stepped up to take the penalty and made no mistake sending the keeper the wrong way in the 20th minute.How to vote for Joseph Okumu in Gent’s Player of the Season AwardIttihad were handed their own penalty at the stroke of the half hour mark but Ahmed Hamoudane could not hold his nerve as he spurned his kick.Hamdi Laachir restored Ittihad’s lead four minutes after the hour mark as he got onto the end of a Mohamed Sadil low cross to round the keeper and tap the ball into the open net.With eight minutes left on the clock, Masud Juma stretched every muscle in his body to guide the ball home when Reda Lakhmidi’s cross looked to have beaten him.Difaa settled for the draw to move to within three points off a CAF Confederation Cup place.
