Gor Mahia’s stadia ban in Nairobi lifted

Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia have been handed a massive reprieve in their recent plight in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League after the 19-time title holders were given the green light to once again host their home games in Nairobi.Back in March this year, K’Ogalo found themselves on the wrong side of the law as they were indefinitely prevented from using the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani in a situation that had been occasioned when, during a league match against Vihiga Bullets, their fans clashed with the club’s security officials.Due to the fracas that caused damages at the stadium and that led to the game being abandoned at halftime, Sports Kenya – the body mandated to take charge of stadia in the country – barred the team from hosting its matches at their designated home ground until they sort out the damages and report the culprits behind the wild act.Gor Mahia banished from Kasarani StadiumFollowing the ban, Gor Mahia, who are based in Nairobi, were forced to travel far and long in order to host and play their home games in a move which saw the team shift to Moi Stadium in Kisumu for a number of their matches before more recently playing at the William Ole Ntimama Stadium in Narok.Mozzart Sport can now reveal that the ban on the club has been lifted and the team will now get the comfort of having to travel over a shorter distance for their home games.“I can confirm that our ban has been lifted. All our issues are sorted and we will be able to once again play at Kasarani,” team manager Jolawi Obondo told Mozzart Sport.🟢 | UP NEXT We take on Homeboyz in a league match on Saturday at Kasarani stadium. #Sirkal @Betsafe_KE pic.twitter.com/NG11AfRmfd— GOR MAHIA FC (@OfficialGMFC) May 19, 2022 The club has also since gone ahead to announce that their next league match against Kakamega Homeboyz is set to be staged at the said venue.“Up next we take on Homeboyz in a league match on Saturday at Kasarani Stadium,” they posted on their social media portals. With five games to go, the former champions find themselves in fifth place on the log on 47 points, twelve behind log leading Homeboyz.
