AFC Leopards coach sets conditions for winning the league next season

AFC Leopards head coach Patrick Aussems has urged the club management to retain 80% of its current squad as he believes they will be in a position to contest for the league title next season if they manage to hold onto a big chunk of their players.Leopards, who are currently in 9th position with 42 points managed to shake of their early season’s struggles to put their season on course. At some point they lost five matches in a row largely due to the mass walkout that was witnessed at the club and many feared that they would go down if their fortunes did not change. The team has since stabilized and play attractive football. Fans are back in the stadium in large numbers and things look up to the side that last won a league title in 1998. Aussems is already planning for next season and the Belgian tactician believes they will be in the title mix if they retain 80% of their current players and bring in three or more players to bolster the squad.Blessed Sunday, Leopards 🙏. pic.twitter.com/oe0XIBIljm— AFC Leopards (@AFCLeopards) May 15, 2022 “I again urge the management to keep or 80% of these players and to bring on board three or four more players and for sure next season we will play for the title,” the former Simba SC coach said. The tactician further weighed into the team’s early season struggles and the impact that his four mid-season signings have made. We began the season with five defeats in a row but we kept working and with the new players who came on board two or three weeks ago and the young players who have improved we made a very good season. I think we can finish in the top four or in the top five positions,” he said.Ingwe will be up against FC Talanta on Saturday .
