AFC Leopards play host to FC Talanta this afternoon in an FKF Premier League match at the Nyayo National Stadium starting from 3 pm.Both teams were not in action last weekend. AFC Leopards were issued with a walkover after Kariobangi Sharks failed to show up for the duel at Nyayo Stadium while Talanta traveled all the way to Kakamega only for the transition committee to postpone their match against Gor Mahia after the visitors protested the choice of venue. The two teams are separated by two points on the log. Leopards have 42 while Talanta, who have played a game less have so far accumulated 39 points heading into the final stretch of what has been a troublesome 2021/22 FKF Premier League campaign.Mapema ndio best📌 Nyayo Stadium ➡️ THIS SATURDAY #Betsafe #OursForever #INGWE pic.twitter.com/dfur7xdZ5h— AFC Leopards (@AFCLeopards) May 20, 2022 On the injury front, Ingwe are without youngster Kayci Odhiambo who is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after he picked up a knee injury a few weeks ago. For Talanta, Barrack Odhiambo, Mohammed Hassan, Michael Bodo are all doubtful.Heading to the game, Leopards coach Patrick Aussems has a target to meet and understands why they have to get maximum points against the Ken Kenyatta led team.“ I am happy with the progress of the team because we lost 17 players before the start of the season. We began the season with five defeats in a row but we kept working and with the new players who came on board two or three weeks ago and the young players who have improved we made a very good season. I think we can finish in the top four or in the top five positions,” Aussems stated. On their part, Kenyatta’s charges are also eyeing maximum points. While acknowledging AFC is a good side, right back Alvin Ochieng says Talanta will fight to the last whistle.“It is an important game for us and we want to perform well, we want the three points because we have targets for the season which we are striving towards accomplishing. Leopards is a good team but we are equally good, we are confident and we will go out there, give our best to get a win,” Ochieng stated. The match starts at 3 PM.
