Miheso’s double against Rangers keeps Police’s top ten dream alive

Kenya Police enhanced their chances of a top ten finish in their maiden season in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League after recovering from a goal down to beat Posta Rangers 2-1 in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) match played at the Kasarani Annex.Police bagged the hard fought eigth win of the season courtesy of a brace from Clifton Miheso that reduced Patrick Otieno’s first half strike to a mere consolation.##EDITORS_CHOICE##Rangers made their intentions of collecting maximum points from the game known from onset as they set camp at the Police area in search for goalsPolice custodian Job Ochieng who had thwarted a handful of attempts made double saves in the 12th minute to deny the duo of Timothy Wanyanga and Jackson Dwang from close range after the defence was overran by the Rangers forwards.Wanyanga who had made an electric run tried to beat Ochieng from the near post but the former Mathare United gloveman palmed the ball to the path of Dwang who had an option of placing the ball to the far corner shot directly to the goalkeeper, before Chrispinus Onyango sending the rebound off target.Ochieng came to the rescue of Police two minutes later, making a fingertip save to deny Michael Apudo who tried to beat him to the farthest corner from a short corner.Police gave the Rangers shot stopper Samuel Njau his first test in the 18th minute when Lesley Otieno tried to beat him from range but the former Gor Mahia player had no trouble in gathering the ball.Rangers continued to ask questions in the Police goal and their quest bore fruit in the 35th minute when Patrick Otieno scythed the ball into the net after Joshua Nyatini put him through.Ochieng once again bailed Police out in the 39th minute, punching a long range effort from Bernard Ondiek for a corner that was headed to safety by Harun Shakava.Second half After watching his side make just one attempt on target in the first half, Pamzo sent in the trio of Clinton Kinanga, Arvine Mangeni and David Simiyu in before restart for Elvis Rupia, Lesley Otieno and Francis Kahata respectively. David ‘Cheche’ Ochieng made good use of his experience to deny Kinanga from leveling matters in the 54th minute as he headed out an effort from the tallest player on the pitch who tried to score from an empty net as Njau had not recovered after making the initial save from Miheso. Five minutes later, a on rushing Wanyanga put his body on the line to block Miheso who was isolated on the left wing from firing straight to Njau after Kinanga teed him up with a defence splitting pass. Rangers made double changes in the 65th minute where Dwang and Otieno who had gone down unchallenged paved way for Brian Otieno and Vincent Wasambo respectively. Police benefited a spot kick in the 68th minute after Cheche caught Mang’eni late in the box in the full glare of Davies Omweno who did the needful. Miheso stepped up to sent Njau the wrong way to draw Police level. Three minutes after the goal, the match was halted for close to four minutes as Police goalkeeper Ochieng who had earlier on been attended to the medics required attention and after failing to convince the doctors that his vision was good, he was rested for Reuben Juma. A defensive mix up in the final minutes of the game allowed Miheso to slot home the second goal from close range a goal that earned Police maximum points.Kenya Police XI: Job Ochieng (Reuben Juma 72), Harun Shakava, Musa Mohamed, David Owino, Cornelius Lusaka, Duncan Otieno, Lesley Otieno, Duke Abuya, Clifton Miheso, Francis Kahata(David Simiyu 46), Elvis Rupia(Clinton Kinanga 46)Unused substitutes: Soita Silicho, Erick Kipkirui, John Ndirangu Posta Rangers XI: Samuel Njau, Timothy Wanyanga, Michael Apudo (Sammy Miseh 82), Kennedy Owino, David Ochieng, Bernard Ondiek, Joshua Nyatini, Brian Marita(Timothy Otieno 82), Patrick Otieno (Victor Ndinya), Jackson Dwang, Chrispinus Onyango(Brian Otieno 73)Unused substitutes: Jairus Adira,Victor Majid, Calvin Odongo,Sammy OderoCentre Referee Davies Omweno
