Time for action, Simba president calls for team’s overhaul

Simba SC president Mohammed Dewji has called on the club’s board to make ‘tough’ decisions after the club’s ouster from the FA Cup in the hands of arch rivals Yanga on Saturday afternoon at the CCM Kirumba Stadium.Feisal Salum’s first half strike compounded Simba’s misery in what has been a tough season for the Tanzanian giants. It also means that the club ends the season without a trophy with Yanga in line to clinch a double, they lead the league with a sizeable advantage at the helm and in the FA Cup final they will face either Coastal Union or Azam, teams considered inferior at the moment.Mo, who sponsors the club, now wants action taken. In a tweet shortly after his club exited the Cup competition, he termed the season as their worst in the last five years. He further called on the team and come up with a new strategy to take the team forward as in his opinion, the team lacked hunger and passion to win their year. This is the WORST season in the last five years for 🇹🇿 Simba SC. 😬The Club will make huge changes when the season end and some people will be affected. 🚨#NguvuMoja #SimbaSC pic.twitter.com/O1igeowxoh— Micky Jnr ✪ (@MickyJnr__) May 28, 2022 “This has been the worst season for Simba in last 5 years. The board needs to make tough decisions on the way forward. We need to overhaul our team and strategy and go back to the drawing board. We lacked motivation, passion and hunger to win trophies this year,” read his tweet. His sentiments put the job of coach, Franco Pablo Martin in the line. The Spanish tactician has been udnerfire in recent weeks after his team exited the CAF Confederation Cup in the quarter final stage and lost footing in the league race.Simba is home to Kenyan international Joash Onyango who has agreed to a contract extension with the club. Onyango’s two-year deal with Wekundu wa Msimbazi expires next month and there were fears that he would walk away before the two parties struck a deal to continue for two more years.
