Spurs have got a Korean beast in attack – and now they want another one in defence

Korean footballers are all the rage! Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with Fenerbahce’s defender Kim Min-jae over a possible move after the 25-year-old received a glowing recommendation from fellow South Korea international Son Seung-min.Min-jae joined Fenerbahce from Chinese club Beijing Guoan less than a year ago for a modest fee of around $3 million. A strong season of playing in the Turkish Super Lig made Spurs re-ignite their interest in the player nicknamed The Beast back in Korea.Find yourself someone who looks at you the way Son looks at Kim Min-jae 😍#AsianCup2019 @theKFA pic.twitter.com/BhRJP7W6Lx— #AFCU23 (@afcasiancup) January 16, 2019 The fact that Spurs were too reluctant to sign Min-jae a year earlier could cost them dearly, however. The defender is now expected to command a fee of around $25 million – if he joins the North London team. There are rumours that Everton are also interested, which could make things complicated for Antonio Conte’s team. The Korean Beast started all of the 31 Super Lig matches that he was available for this season and played in all six of his team’s Europa League fixtures. During this year’s January transfer window, Fenerbahce reportedly turned down an offer from Italian club Napoli, and Everton was also rumoured to have put in a bid.Tottenham sign Perisic on free transfer from Inter MilanIn March, scouts from Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Chelsea, Serie A club Juventus and Primeira Liga club FC Porto were all reported to be attending Fenerbahce games to watch Kim play.Thursday, 22.00: (1.30) Tunisia (5.00) Equatorial Guinea (12.0)Kim’s injury status may be one of the reasons the interested clubs have been cautious in making an offer. The defender underwent surgery on his ankle a few weeks ago and is still recovering – but should be fit for next season. It looks like we could get another Korea international in Premier League soon.
