Disgruntled FC Talanta host Gor Mahia at Kasarani in a rescheduled FKF PL match

FC Talanta will be hoping to put behind last week’s predicaments and grab maximum points when they host record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia on Wednesday at the Kasarani Stadium in a rescheduled Football Kenya Federation Premier League. The match initially set to be played last month at the Bukhungu Stadium but the FKF Transition Committee cancelled the game few hours to kick off, at a time when Talanta who are the host were already at the venue.🟢 | MATCH DAY Our last match… we close the season today with a league tie against Talanta FC at Kasarani Stadium from 3pm. #Sirkal | #Betsafe pic.twitter.com/i3acMJJTUA— GOR MAHIA FC (@OfficialGMFC) June 8, 2022 The move to cancel the game saw Talanta demand Ksh 421, 000 in reimbursement from the committee before agreeing to play the rescheduled game in Nairobi.Prior to the cancellation, Gor had formally complained to the Caretaker Committee that was replaced by the transitional one after Talanta elected to host the game outside the designated home venues, Ruaraka, Kasarani and Thika.Talanta demand close to half a million reimbursement before playing Gor in rescheduled league gameAccording an FC Talanta official who sought anonymity, the club is still waiting for the committee to meet the promise of reimbursing the money made two weeks ago.“High ranking members of the committee undertook to refund the money we spent last month in honouring the aborted game. The promise was made two weeks ago but they have since gone mute on the issue and whenever we do reminders, all we do get, are unending excuses. It is unfortunate that we have to host Gor again which means that we will have to spend on hiring the venue and other logistics,” he said.Efforts to mine out a reaction from the committee were futile.##NAJAVA_MECA_6444514##Talanta head into the game ill prepared as the players who had been on strike for almost a week have trained for a day after softening their stance and agreeing to play. The players made good their threat of skipping last weekend’s clash against Kakamega Homeboyz as they were protesting the delayed May salaries and allowances as well as the prize money awarded for winning the National Super League last season.Sources from the club indicate that the management, in a bid to avoid further embarrassment, backlash from the public and running into trouble with the multiple shirt sponsors awarded the players allowances for winning three matches. The management held a crisis meeting on Monday met the players and brokered truce that saw the players resume training.Gor who will be playing the last fixture of the season will in the meanwhile be seeking to complete a double over the league newcomers. Gor who drew Nzoia Sugar 1-1 last Sunday won the first leg 2-0 at the same venue.
