Muluya hails Lumumba for stepping up in Patilah’s absence

Kariobangi Sharks might have gone for five league matches without a win but despite the awful run, coach William Muluya has something to celebrate in his budding midfielder Issa Lumumba.Muluya threw in the upcoming player in the deep end when he lined up his side to confront four-time champions Ulinzi Stars last Saturday at the Kasarani Annex as he tasked him filling the rather big shoes left by Patilah Omoto.##NAJAVA_MECA_6444514##Sharks who lost the duel by a solitary goal scored by Bonaventure Muchika had to do without Omoto who is sidelined. Despite the sour outcome, Muluya reserved praises to the youngster who played the match to its entirety for the first time since joining the team late last year.😄| And finally watu wa Kitale wanaeza lala na amani sasa.✍🏿| St.Anthony’s midfield kingpin cum engine is a Shark.🗞️| Issa Lumumba joins from St.Anthony’s Kitale Boys High School.#WeAreSharks #BetwaySharks pic.twitter.com/sq5OkaGz3a— Kariobangi Sharks FC (@k_sharksfc) September 24, 2021 Lumumba signed up for Sharks at a time when he was still a student at St. Anthony’s Boys High School, Kitale and had to excuse himself from the camp to take up the final exams upon which he returned to the team two months ago.Lumumba focused on football career after clearing high school studiesMuluya tipped the player to prosper in the trade if the performance he put in against the soldiers was anything to go by. Before returning to school, Lumumba had played five league matches albeit as an impact player.“He performed beyond expectations considering that he had been out for some time taking exams. This was his first time he was playing full time and I think he did well. He has a whole virgin future ahead of him,” he said.Sharks will wrap up the season with a trip away to Kakamega Homeboyz this weekend.
