EVANS, Georgia — Bartram Trail Golf Club in Columbia County, which sits roughly 20 minutes away from perhaps the most famous golf club in the world — Augusta National — is under new ownership.
Jason Page, who also operates a local roofing contracting business, applied to the county in May for an alcohol license for the club, which the Columbia County Board of Commissioners approved during their meeting Tuesday.
The club’s website listed Page and his wife, Debbie, as the facility’s new owners as of May 28. The legal name of the business seeking the license is Floors 360 Inc., doing business as Bartram Trail Golf Club.
The club’s new manager is Bill Fumai, who joined Bartram Trail as an assistant golf pro in 2017, after managing Fort Gordon’s Gordon Lakes Golf Club for several years.
The new owners plan to renovate Bartram Trail’s clubhouse into a “pub,” its website said, among a list of anticipated changes to the facility expected to go into effect by autumn. Other club changes mentioned on the site include course improvements, tree removal to add up to 25 parking spaces, expansion of the pro shop and new E-Z-GO golf carts.
Ownership of the club has changed hands more than once since opening in 2005.
In 2002, Columbia County commissioners approved the creation of a nonprofit community development corporation, Bartram Trail CDC Inc., to develop and operate the club. The incorporation allowed developers to obtain $9 million in financing backed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture through its Rural Development Loan Guarantee Program.
In 2016, faced with property foreclosure, the group of investors went insolvent and a new ownership group, Bartram Trail Investors LLC, bought the club.
