Union get an Awoniyi replacement – a Cameroonian who plays for the United States

USA international striker Jordan Pefok joins Union Berlin from Swiss team Young Boys. The news was broken by the German club with a lot of hope that the 26-year-old son of Cameroonian parents would fill the gap left by the departure of Taiwo Awoniyi, who left Berlin to sign for the Premier League’s newly-promoted side Nottingham Forest. The deal is worth around $6 million, with the attacker putting pen to paper on a four-year contract with the Iron Union.Friday, 21.45: (3.60) Bohemians D. (3.30) Derry City (2.00)Pefok was the Swiss league’s top scorer with 22 last season but will be required to raise his game considerably to repeat such a feat in the German top flight. He believes he can do it.”After two successful years in Bern, where I had the perfect environment to develop as a young player, I now have the next step in my career ahead of me. I want to prove myself in the Bundesliga and I’m convinced that I’ve found the right club in Union.”👋 Welcome, @Theosonsmith pic.twitter.com/QgjJAJWUQK— 1.
