Vihiga Bullets set to hit training ahead of Lidonde Cup

Relegated Vihiga Bullets are set to resume training on Tuesday to prepare for weekend’s Elijah Lidonde Cup that will be staged at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega this weekend. The tournament, that will be used to commemorate former Harambee Stars and AFC Leopards captain Elijah Lidonde who died in 1987 and also foster peace and cohesion heading to the August 9 General Elections.##NAJAVA_MECA_6487488##Six Premier League teams from the Western Region have been invited for the tournament – Vihiga Bullets, AFC Leopards, Kakamega Homeboyz and Nzoia Sugar. The winner will go home with Ksh. 1 million with the losing finalist pocketing half of that. Third-placed team will walk home with Sh. 300,000 while the team that finishes last will have to be content with Ksh. 250,000.Bullets, who got relegated from the top tier at the end of last season will hit the training ground on Tuesday to prepare for the matches. Coach Juma Abdalla believes that the team’s fitness is not badly off and that they will be ready to compete.“We are resuming training on Tuesday morning in preparation for the tournament which we expect to perform well. The players have been training on their own and I do not think that they have lost their match-fitness. We will use the four days to work on the tactical aspects and I believe by the time we are done with our final training session we will be ready for the game,” he told Mozzart Sport.The Elijah Lidonde Memorial Cup will be staged at the Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday and Sunday. I also have issues with my attack because we were not scoring much goals towards the end of the season and I am trying to bring on board a few players to beef up the squad in readiness for the tournament,” he added.
