Gor Mahia suspend mischievous senior players for absconding training

Gor Mahia have suspended nine senior team players over what the club termed as gross misconduct after the players absconded training on Tuesday and Wednesday.A section of the players are reportedly on a go slow over the decision by the club to pay them half of their salaries despite the fact that they recently landed a new sponsor who pumped over 70 million per year to the club.##NAJAVA_MECA_6544380##The players have been on half salary from last year and expected that this would change when the club signed a sponsorship deal with a gaming firm last month. To their surprise, however, their July salaries were equally half and some players decided to down tools.“They had promised to pay our salaries in full and clear all the arrears once they got a sponsor. Last month the club landed a sponsor but nothing has changed, we were paid half of our July salaries and no one is giving us any explanation on when normalcy will resume. It is because of this that some of us decided to stay away,” one of the players told Mozzart Sport. Those suspended include veteran George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo, Austin Odhiambo, John Ochieng, Boniface Omondi, Ernest Wendo, Benson Omala, Sydney Ochieng, Dennis Ng’ang’a and Alpha Onyango. The nine were served with suspension letters signed by club Secretary General Sam Ochola on Wednesday and have been given a couple of days to explain why disciplinary action which may include termination of the contract should not be taken against them.Fred Arocho – With the new coach, I see Gor Mahia moving to the next step and good money coming in#DayBreak pic.twitter.com/W9m9ViVWLr— Citizen TV Kenya (@citizentvkenya) August 1, 2022 “It is a harsh suspension letter because I do not understand why a club official would decide to take disciplinary action against players for absconding duty yet he is the one who first breached the contract by not paying us all out dues. Let’s see how far they can go with such an attitude,” another player added. The suspensions come a couple of days after the club unveiled new coach, Johnathan McKinstry.
