“The American guy looks like he wants to play Football Manager”

Usually, when a football player, especially a former one and coming from a rival club is talking and commenting on another club, it provokes a furious reaction from the fan base, but in this particular case, a few Chelsea fans could disagree with what Gary Neville said about the Blues. Former Manchester United defender, now a TV pundit commented the achievements of Chelsea (but also on Manchester) and basically compared the new owner, Todd Boehly, with a hated duo of Glazers, the American owners of United. Gary Neville on #Chelsea’s new ownership:”They’re linked with every player Barcelona wants, every player City wants, every player United wants. They’re bouncing around because he feels he has to do something. That’s why I say Football Manager.”[via The Overlap / YouTube]— Absolute Chelsea (@AbsoluteChelsea) August 3, 2022 Neville revealed no great truths, since it’s obvious that Chelsea’s behavior in the transfer market has been erratic for most of the time. Former United defender thinks it has come from the fact that the American owner got rid of the previous operatives too quickly and now looks like he needs to prove or do something, but doesn’t have a proper plan. Chelsea continue to ‘steal’: After De Jong, and Cucurella, they are after ‘New Haaland’“The American guy Boehly, looks like he wants to play Football Manager. He’s wandering around a little bit and they’re a bit panicky now. You’re wondering “oh they’re coming in for Frenkie de Jong this morning” because he feels like he has to do something, that pressure is on him. He wouldn’t have had that pressure if he’d have kept the people that have been there before and just let them operate for a year or two, but it’ll be an interesting season for Chelsea. They’re almost like bouncing around because it feels like Todd Boehly has to do something. I’m hearing his name too much. It feels like, it’s not to be disrespectful, you know he’s a prominent guy, he’s just bought the club and everything. He’s fronted a fund that’s paid two and a half billion quid, but to get rid of all that football operation that’s been unbelievable for that many years and come in and do it yourself, it does feel like Ed Woodward that to me. We’ll see it develop” said Neville to Overlap. Chelsea’s striker purge continues: Lukaku out, Werner next? And just to make sure that he’s not just criticizing other clubs, and not his former one, a famous Red Devil’s defender also talked about transfer wheelings and dealings at Old Trafford. “I would go back to Ten Hag and say I think he’s had a really impressive start, a confident start… and he’s not been supported off the pitch by an operation that can get him the players he wants.  If you said to me two months ago that Manchester United would have Fred and McTominay in midfield and we would have Martial up front – who every Manchester United fan and coach had written off as being leaving… I’d say that the manager has been given a pretty tough hand. All these clubs – Chelsea, they bring Raheem Sterling in. City bring in Erling Haaland, Darwin Nunez goes to Liverpool. And then you’ve got Manchester United who basically can’t get a player through the door.  Every Manchester United fan is a little bit tired of us. I said this about Sancho and it’s the same now with De Jong – it gets to the point where a signing that should be an excitement for the club drags on that long that actually in the end you actually lose excitement for the signing, it almost becomes a little bit of an embarrassment. And it’s still happening. So, I’m really concerned about the fact that they can’t get signings over the line still” said Neville. ##NAJAVA_MECA_6541751##
