Nyaberi: Missing out on promotion is painful

Murang’a Seal FC head coach Vincent Nyaberi was left shuttered after his team narrowly missed out on promotion to the top tier after losing the FKF-PL/NSL playoff to Wazito FC.The two teams met in the playoff with both teams determined to play in the top league next season. Wazito won the first leg 2-1 before Murang’a secured a 3-2 win in the return leg, after the two games the match was tied at 4-4 but Wazito went through the away goal rule and are headed into their fourth season in the top flight.##NAJAVA_MECA_6557605##For Nyaberi and his players, it was a case of heartbreak in the closing stages of the game as Michael Owino’s goal seven minutes from time denied the team a top-flight chance. He termed the experience painful but hopes they can shake it off as soon as possible.“It was a case of so near yet so far. We were close to getting promoted and then they scored that second goal and it ended our dream. It is painful for these players who have really worked hard all season and you could see how dejected they were at full time. I feel their pain but there is nothing much that we can do at this point than to shift focus to next season,” he stated.##EDITORS_CHOICE##The tactician is not deterred much and says they will try to fight next season again and try to earn promotion to the top tier for the first time ever.“I honestly believe that we would have automatically earned a promotion to the top tier but some decisions went against us and we found ourselves in the playoff. We now shift focus to next season. We will prepare well and fight again next season and I am hopeful that we can finally get promoted to the top tier but we first have to put what happened behind us,” he added.Kenyan midfielder in Sweden for trials
