Veteran Homeboyz custodian David Juma retires from active football

Veteran Kakamega Homeboyz goalkeeper and club skipper David Juma has formally announced his retirement from active football.Juma hangs his boots and gloves after close to two decades of top flight football having made his bow in the competition back in 2003 with the defunct Kisumu Telkom FC.The former Gor Mahia custodian disclosed that he had set the 2021-2022 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season as his last at the competitive level and made the decision to call it a day after the final game against Kariobangi Sharks.Veteran goalkeeper dreams of final league title with HomeboyzJuma, who recounted his debut game against Pan Paper FC in 2003 in a game that ended in a barren draw played his last game in the competition on May 8, when Homeboyz fell 2-0 to Tusker at the Ruaraka grounds.He said, he proceeds to the next phase with a sense of pride having won accomplished the dreams and objectives he had when he signed with Telkom nineteen years ago.”I can confirm that I have retired from active football. I have enjoyed every bit of my days as an active player. I have enjoyed making saves, distributing the ball, assisting, skippering and winning titles. I exit the stage a satisfied man who has achieved almost what I had dreamed for when I was a young boy, ” he opened up.Having made up his mind, the former Western Stima goalkeeper said he was keen on heeding to his next call, that is coaching.Juma, who is currently handling the goalkeeping department at Homeboyz said he was working on his transition from an active player to a coach.##NAJAVA_MECA_6564038##He expressed optimism that Homeboyz would reward his service by entrusting him to head the department going forward. Homeboyz are yet to fill in the gaps left in the technical bench after the axe fell on a good number of them in July.”I wouldn’t mind to stay in the game but as a goalkeepers’ coach. I have the passion and the experience and hopefully, the club will consider me for the job on permanent basis,” he said.
