Furious Blackberry demands apology from Gor Mahia official over slander

Gor Mahia’s speedy winger George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo is demanding an apology from an unnamed club official for allegedly tainting his image as a ringleader of a go-slow at the club.Kogalo suspended up to nine senior team players over what the club termed as gross misconduct after the players absconded training almost two weeks ago, Odhiambo being one of those suspended.Gor Mahia suspend mischievous senior players for absconding trainingThe players were reportedly on a go slow over the decision by the club to pay them half of their salaries despite the fact that they recently landed a new sponsor who pumped over 70 million per year to the club.In an interview with the Sunday Nation, the Kenyan international noted that it was unfair of the official to single him out as the leader of the group protesting, saying that the official who he did not name should come out and apologize to him.“If indeed the official is sure of what he said at the time, then why didn’t he go on record? The said official should come out and apologise to me. But it should be known that after we had attended training at Camp Toyoyo grounds before the team traveled to Mombasa to play Coast Combined last month, our team captain Philemon Otieno assembled all the players in the presence of the team manager and we discussed the issue of salaries.Blackberry happy to be back at Gor MahiaAt the forum, all players shared their predicaments as far as salaries are concerned. It’s therefore unfair for the official to zero down on me. The comments will affect my brand. Even if there was a club interested in signing me in the future, the club would have second thoughts after comments made about me, so I want the official to come out and clear my name,” the winger said as quoted on Nation.The former Azam returned to Gor Mahia last year in October after a stint with reigning champions Tusker FC.
