FKF Nairobi East branch chairman Amos Otieno has warned that they will run parallel leagues if the government does not rescind its decisions to extend the mandate of the FKF Transition Committee by a further two months. On 16th August, outgoing sports cabinet secretary Amina Mohammed extended the term of the committee by two more months meaning that they will be in charge of football until October 2022. The move however elected sharp criticism from stakeholders who believe that the committee, that was first formed in November has overstayed its welcome with no clear plan to get Kenya out of FIFA’s suspension.A rival group led by FKF Branch chairmen now insist that decision to extend the committee’s mandate is illegal and has warned that their will be two rival leagues should the decision not be turned around. The group under the FKF Management Committee that’s led by FKF Murang’a Branch chairman Robert Macharia was plotting to take over the management of football from the transition committee in June but that did not materialize as the CS opted to continue with the body she first formed when she dissolved FKF.Otieno, who is the FKF FMC vice chairman now says they will run parallel leagues urging clubs to prepare for separate leagues.“This is laughable. We can’t extend the term of the Transition Committee twice. Her decision is unacceptable and Kenyans should be prepared for a parallel league,” Otieno told the Star.FKF Transition Committee’s term extended by a further two months#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/3M3ItJaD40— Ochieng’ Stephen (@soo_ochieng) August 15, 2022 He pointed out at Tusker and Vihiga Queens missing out on continental football as one of the reason as to why the transition committee should be kicked out.“We want to move forward and it’s unfortunate that some people are holding us at ransom. Why weren’t Tusker and Vihiga Queens included in the draws of continental shows?”According to the transition committee, both the FKF Premier League and Women Premier League will commence in September.Government warns football stakeholders against engaging newly formed FKF Management Committee
