The Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) is set to pronounce itself on Wednesday on a number of issues touching in the recently 2021-2022 Football Kenya Federation Premier League and the National Super League season.The Tribunal, on Tuesday evening faulted the FKF Transition Committee for turning a blind eye to the existing judicial bodies of the federation and forming their own when the season was almost coming to a close.The concluded season was marred with a myriad of cases as clubs turned to the Tribunal in search for justice whenever the government-installed committees erred in decision making.BREAKINGThe Sports Disputes Tribunal has declared The 2021/22 FKF Transition Committe Premier League declared null and void.This is after the committee illegally appointed it’s own judicial bodies.No Relegation, no promotion. pic.twitter.com/ejvQahdL1j— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) August 23, 2022 The government through the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage disbanded the FKF in November last year and went on to install a Caretaker Committee that took over the running of the competition.The Caretaker Committee that served for six months was replaced by the Transition Committee back in May that took charge for five weeks before the mandate was extended for two months.The case against the Transition Committee filed by nine clubs drawn from the Super League and the other tier as well as renowned sports journalist Francis Ngira sought several prayers at the Tribunal, among them was annulling the two competitions. ##NAJAVA_MECA_6588060##The case filed in May would see the 2009 league champions Sofapaka, Mathare United, Kariobangi Sharks and Vihiga Bullets join as interested parties. The existing judicial bodies who were apparently not affected by the government’s take over also joined as an interested party.The ruling also affects the promotion and the relegation of the teams in either tiers. APS Bomet and Fortune Sacco were promoted to the top tier with Mathare and Vihiga meeting the wrath of the axe.Dandora Love, Gusii FC were kicked out of the league with Zoo also following suit for dishing three walkovers.A source who was enjoined in the case revealed that the Tribunal had indeed rendered the outcome of the two competitions null and void considering that the full ruling was still being prepared by press time.
